Join the 14th Annual Kickin’ Cancer!® 5K & Family Fun Day to raise funds and awareness for the women and families bravely facing ovarian and breast cancer.

Event Parking:

Event Parking is NOT permitted at the VA.
Street parking is extremely limited. Read posted signs carefully.

Parking Fee: $7. Please bring exact change.
Carpooling is appreciated and encouraged!

From San Vicente Blvd., follow San Vicente until you get to Bringham.
Make a left at Darlington Ave. and a right on San Vicente Blvd.
NOTE: This lot closes at 8:20am. If you arrive after 8:20am, you’ll be directed to alternate parking lot

Event Description

This event is about getting sweaty and having fun to fight women’s cancers. It is a day of hope, remembrance, and looking forward. Kickin’ Cancer!® is a non-competitive family-friendly event featuring the 5K, Stroller Run alongside 5K route, Kiddie Fun Run for children age 10 & under, the FREE Family Fun Day with fitness demos, product samples and entertainment, Individual and Team Fundraising Prizes, the Kids’ Corner including a bounce house, t-shirt coloring contest and more along with the Tribute Wall — a standing testament to honor and remember all those touched by cancer.

Since its inception, Kickin’ Cancer!® participants, donors and supporters — people like YOU — have raised more than $2 million dollars for the Lynne Cohen Foundation — providing women and families affected by ovarian and breast cancers with tools to prevent disease, catch their cancers early, and fight them hard.

Registration

Register to participate online at kickincancer.com, by mail or on event day beginning at 7:30 am. Mail-in registrations must be received with entry fees by Sept. 5. Online registration closes on Sept. 19 at 2 pm PST.

Every participant will have a link to their personal fundraising page emailed to them upon registration. Fundraise at least $1 to get a limited edition 2015 Kickin’ Cancer!® Event T-Shirt! To make a real splash, ask just 10 buddies to give $10 each to your page, and BAM! That’s $100 hard at work fighting women’s cancers.

5K Registration Fees: Before August 31: $30. After August 31: $40.

Stroller Run
Fee: $40.
Push it forward for the cause! Stroll your way to the finish line with your little training buddy along for the ride. Registration includes 1 Adult and 1 Stroller, regardless of the number of kids, and entry to the Stroller Corral.

Kiddie Registration Fee (age 10≥): Before August 31: $15. After August 31: $25.

Virtual Participant (ViP) Every registrant will automatically have their own fundraising page, but if you can’t make it to Los Angeles for event day, try becoming a ViP! Kickin’ Cancer!® 5K & Family Fun Day is more than an event… it is a movement! People are participating all around the country by fundraising as Virtual Participants! We provide the tools and the impact, and you raise awareness for your friends while raising funds for the fight against women’s cancers! No running necessary. Become a virtual fundraiser and rally your friends to join the cause by learning about prevention and making a donation to your personal Kickin’ Cancer!® page. Big or small, every fundraiser and donation packs a punch (and a kick!), and helps women and families facing ovarian and breast cancers manage risk, prevent disease, catch cancer early, and fight it hard. For every participant that raises even $1 we’ll send you a t-shirt so you can make a statement.

Team Up – Because We Are Better Together!

Teams of all sizes contribute to the success of Kickin’ Cancer!® There is no minimum number of registrants and no fundraising obligation to form a team. Teams of 5 members or more and/or teams who raise a minimum of $500 receive additional benefits.

If you would like to register a team, but don’t know who will be on your team yet, no problem! Register using the Create a Team option and register only yourself. Once you know who you’d like to add to your team, you can send out a registration link with your team name to potential team members.

Nothing unites a group like the opportunity to have fun and do good all at the same time. Kickin’ Cancer!® thrives on teams and teams thrive with us. Whether you’re a corporation, social club, sports team, or just a group of friends, take the leap to get together and highlight your combined efforts as a Team.

If your business is interested in a sponsorship level we will gladly consider your ability to raise the minimum dollars needed as equal to a check written.

THE COURSE

The scenic 5K course starts at San Vicente Blvd. and Darlington and continues West on the North side of San Vicente Blvd., U-turns at Avondale and loops back on the South side of San Vicente Blvd.
The Kiddie Fun Run (less than 1K) is a quick out-and-back on the official race course. It starts and ends at San Vicente & Darlington. Children (age 10 & under can run by themselves or with the help of an adult).

5K AWARDS

The event is not timed, but there will be a clock at the finish line if you want to check your time. Prizes will be given to the top female and male 5K finishers (1st, 2nd & 3rd Place) overall. Prize packages include gift certificates from our sponsors, Kickin’ Cancer!® merchandise and other cool stuff. Kiddie Fun Run finisher’s will receive a special takeaway.

KICKIN’ CANCER!® TRIBUTE WALL

The Kickin’ Cancer!® Tribute Wall is a standing testament to honor and remember all those affected by cancer for everyone to view and enjoy on event day. All attendees are invited to add personal messages, dedications, words of wisdom, or just your John Hancock to The Tribute Wall on event day.

RAISE FUNDS + HOPE

Take your Kickin’ Cancer!® participation to the next level and become a ViP! Become a Virtual Participant (ViP) Fundraiser no matter where you are. Donations and fundraisers of every size support life-saving preventive care and education program for women and families bravely facing ovarian and breast cancer — many of whom would not otherwise have access to these services.

Fundraising has never been easier! There are two ways to get involved

1.Register to participate in the 5K or Kiddie Fun Run (age 10 & under)

  • Your personal fundraising page will automatically be created
  • You will receive a confirmation email, as well as an email with a link to your personal fundraising page.
  • Login any time from that email or from the Lynne Cohen Foundation website under the Ways to Give drop down.
  • Set your fundraising goal, upload photos and a personal message about your connection to the cause, send emails, make calls, and post to social media asking friends and family to support you, and track your progress!
  • Any funds you raise via your fundraising page will be credited to your personal campaign as well as (if applicable) to your team total.

2. Register to fundraise only as a ViP

  • Virtual Participants join the Kickin’ Cancer!® movement from all around the world!
  • Register to Fundraise Only and you’ll receive access to your personal fundraising page via email
  • You will NOT be registered for the 5K
  • You can choose to start a team, join a team, or fundraise as an individual.
  • Raise $1 or more and receive an event T so you can post your Kickin’ Cancer!® selfie to raise awareness along with the funds #kickincancer @lynnecohenfoundation

Personalize Your Page

If you and your donors are not comfortable fundraising/donating online, you can mail-in your offline (cash/check) donations. Be sure that your name/team name is included in the memo line of each check to ensure you and your team receives proper credit for every donation. Or download the Pledge Form here to track and submit offline donations.

Offline donations (cash/checks) may be mailed-in before or after the event or submitted on event day at the Donation/Pledge Turn-In booth.

KIDS CARE TOO!

The Kickin’ Cancer!® Kids Fundraising Program encourages children of all ages to take a step and make a difference in their community.

Step 1: Register to participate in the Kiddie Fun Run (age 10 & under) or 5K at kickincancer.com. When you register online, your personal fundraising web page is automatically created for you.

Step 2: Donate or raise your first $25 and we will send you a Kickin’ Cancer!® piggy bank as a gift. Use your piggy bank to collect donations and keep it as a special reminder of your commitment to the cause.

Step 3: Ask your relatives, friends and neighbors to make a donation to support your fundraising campaign. Start by asking 10 of your closest contacts for just $5 each.
