The Lynne Cohen High Risk Screening and Prevention Project for Ovarian and Breast Cancer at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Program
In this program, we offer each woman screening in the high-risk ovarian screening clinic and the high-risk breast screening clinic. These are clinics for women who are high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. The criteria is 2 or more first or second degree relatives with breast &/or ovarian cancer; or, 1 relative if patient is of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. In the ovarian screening clinic, we offer a visit with a gynecological oncologist, genetic counseling, a transvaginal ultrasound, and a CA 125 blood test. In the breast screening clinic, we offer breast cancer risk assessment including genetic risk assessment by a genetic counselor, visit with a breast medical oncologist, breast examination and screening (mammogram, ultrasound and breast MRI if indicated).

Studies Open to Participants
1. 2008-0067: Multi- Center Database/Registry of subjects at High Risk for Ovarian or Breast Cancer: A Lynne Cohen Consortium Project. The goal of this registry is to collect limited demographic, family history, genetic history, and medical history information on subjects who have been seen at in the High Risk Clinic who are at risk for having ovarian cancers due to BRCA mutations.
2. GOG-199: Study of Risk-Reducing Salpingo-Oophorectomy and CA-125 screening among women with an increased genetic risk of ovarian cancer.
3. GYN01-142: Risk of Ovarian Cancer Algorhythm. Study of assessing if CA-125 is helpful in early detection of ovarian cancer among women at higher risk for this disease.
4. Lab03-0479: Prospective follow-up of women at increased risk for breast cancer.
5. 2006-0185: Phase I Atorvastatin Breast Cancer Prevention Study
